Gamicards at the International Conference for Entertainment Computing

We are pleased to announce that gamification specialist, and GEELab PhD student, Lauren Ferro has recently had a paper accepted to the International Conference on Entertainment Computing (ICEC).

Interested in gamification and how people are motivated, Lauren started to explore the relationship between personality types and game elements and mechanics as a better way to engage and motivate people. Her investigations have led her to develop a set of game cards.

Gamicards are a physical resource to aid designers with varying levels of experience, a methodology for designing a gamified system. The tool aims to provide reference material to personality types, game mechanics and elements.

Gamified systems have been seen in online professional development, compliance training, marketing and education and are starting to emerge in other areas like medical, charity and philanthropic industries. The hope is that with resources like Gamicards, a comprehensive tool will be readily available for both inexperienced and experienced designers of gamified systems.

Lauren will discuss Gamicards at the ICEC in Sydney later this year. To attend the conference register at http://icec2014.info/attendees.php
