GEElab Goes to Mars

Last week, the GEElab Melbourne office visited the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) - a dedicated space education centre which sees 35% of Victoria students visit each year.

The education Centre which is located in Strathmore, uses a variety of games and technology to simulate a space experience - specifically a visit to Mars. Within the facility students are able to use touch screens, play customised space games and wear space suits whilst collecting samples from a Mars crater. The Centre which is funded by the state government, regularly meets with NASA and other space agencies to ensure they have the most up to date information available which is then transferred into the lesson plans for school children.

GEElab's new Honors student Sean Elliot will be continuing his research into games and education with VSSEC.
