In a Nutshell
At RMIT University's GEElab, we are researching how game design thinking can positively affect and alter architecture & urbanism, mobility, popular media, storytelling, engagement, other sciences as well as society itself.
On the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of August the GEElab Europe office became a central gathering point for local gaming enthusiasts of all kinds, united by a common goal: create a game in 48 hours!
The Ludum Dare is a recurring event that challenges industry veterans and newcomers alike to create a game in the given timeframe and for a given theme, to then upload it and have it voted on by the community.
This time around the theme was “connected worlds” and the games created were as diverse as the interpretations of the theme. And connection is what it’s all about – even though everyone makes their game on their own, the purpose of the event is to bring people together, to share expertise and experience, but also a lot of fun, food and the occasional beer.
In this the event was a rousing success. Games were made, much was learned, fun was had and food was shared. We thank all participants for a great weekend and best wishes for your voting results!
