At RMIT University's GEElab, we are researching how game design thinking can positively affect and alter architecture & urbanism, mobility, popular media, storytelling, engagement, other sciences as well as society itself.
Pressing Play investigates the potential of ‘gameful’ design strategies for encouraging and extending physical and cognitive engagement within interior spaces.
By triggering the imagination and taking people out of their comfort zone, this design approach can give agency to experimentation and creative exploration. The use of ‘gameful’ tactics and human computing technology will inject humour and deploy play that will carry themes of collective identity and body-spatial awareness.
Adelle Lin's thesis focused on the Paramount Retail Centre, a curious and often unpopulated retail complex in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Adele proposed a series of new interior spaces to create visibility for Melbourne’s emerging subculture dedicated to games, play and interactive technology collaborations.
